PC Repair Chester
PC won’t turn on
One of the most common things we see. The cause could be a failed power supply, a loose connection, a faulty component, or something more straightforward. We’ll diagnose it properly and let you know what’s going on.
Power supply replacement
Power supply units fail more often than people realise, and they’re not always obvious about it. Symptoms include random shutdowns, failure to POST, or the PC not responding at all. We source and fit replacements for most desktop configurations.
Slow performance
A PC that’s become sluggish is usually down to a failing hard drive, insufficient RAM, software issues, or a build-up of dust affecting cooling. We’ll identify the actual cause rather than guess, and recommend the most cost-effective fix.
SSD and RAM upgrades
If your PC is running an old mechanical hard drive, switching to an SSD is one of the most effective upgrades you can make. Boot times, application loading, and general responsiveness all improve significantly. We also fit additional RAM where it’ll make a genuine difference.
Overheating and cooling
PCs that shut down unexpectedly, run loudly, or throttle under load are often overheating. Dust build-up in heatsinks and fans is a very common cause. We clean, re-paste, and replace cooling components where needed.
Virus and malware removal
Unexpected pop-ups, sluggish performance, browser redirects, and strange behaviour are all signs your PC may be compromised. We scan, clean, and secure your system and make sure it’s properly protected before it goes back to you.
Software faults and reinstalls
Windows failing to start, update errors, corrupted files, or a system that’s just become unusable – we deal with these regularly. A clean reinstall is sometimes the fastest and most reliable fix, and we can usually have software jobs done within 1-2 working days.
Blue screen errors and crashes
Random crashes and blue screen errors can stem from hardware faults, driver conflicts, Windows corruption, or failing storage. We diagnose the root cause rather than just clearing the error.
GPU and display faults
No picture, artifacting, or a display that cuts out can point to a graphics card fault or a connection issue. We test and where possible repair or replace GPUs on desktop systems.
Storage failure and data recovery
If your hard drive or SSD has failed, there’s a chance your data can still be recovered. Bring it in as soon as possible – the longer a failing drive is used, the lower the chances of a full recovery. We offer data recovery as a separate service.
POST failures and boot issues
If your PC powers on but won’t get past the boot screen, or shows error codes on startup, we can work through the likely causes systematically. RAM faults, storage failures, and corrupted system files are all common culprits.
Don’t see your problem listed? Come in anyway.
Laptops develop all kinds of faults and we haven’t listed everything we deal with. If something doesn’t seem right with your laptop, bring it in and we’ll take a look. We’ll give you an honest assessment and let you know whether we can fix it, how long it’ll take, and what it’ll cost – before we do anything.
Thinking about a new computer instead?
